Introducing, Sunday Saunters

My name is Ryan D. Pelletier and I live and work in the St. John Valley at the very top of Maine in Aroostook County. Professionally by day, I am the Madawaska Town Manager and my office literally looks out at Canada. I am also the proud father of two young ambitious boys, Carter age 12 and Camden age 9. For the past several years the boys and I like to get out and explore the great outdoors.

This blog is all about adventure for the young, and the young at heart. Each week, the boys and I will determine a new location, unique natural place, hidden venue, somewhere different and sometimes a bit off the grid. Our goal will be to find a place on the map (literally using the Maine Atlas and Gazetteer and perhaps Google Earth) and seek it out by vehicle, bike, boat, walking…whatever gets us where we decide to go.  We will chronicle the exploration with pics, stories, etc. and let you the readers follow us and maybe decide to go explore the location for yourself.

This blog isn’t just about going out and hiking in the northern parts of Maine. Its also about fatherhood and the bond we can make with our children through interaction and having fun. Its also about doing some cool things without spending a lot of money. (I told the boys, this is about doing things not only that we can do, but what anyone can do).  We hope that our trips and memories will inspire other parents and kids to connect and do things other than the norm.

So, we hope you will follow us along our journeys and read about our Sunday Saunters each week. You can follow us on FaceBook!
